Linking – A lot has been said about linking. A couple of main factors to consider would be relevant text, anchor text, and outbound/inbound links. The next is that you need to format both the text on the page AND the anchor text.
Avoid links from you-me-us websites. Bad idea! Think about this. I too am a website owner. I regularly read and comment on blogs. Many of these sites have links to companies that I have never dealt with or even seen. So why would I want to be associated with a site/page that has a broken link or is awash with links to page rank Zero sites?
What I’d rather see is a link on a page that says, “here’s the link to this website”. Something like that.
On-page Text – optimize for the highest score and the least amount of words, including inbound text and anchor text.
Off-page Text – Good on-page text. Anchor text should be hyperlinked to the page that takes the visitor to the page.
If you’re not listing several individual pages in the “About the Company Page” then a basic SEO strategy is all about getting more of this on-site text and off-page text links.
